Over lunch the other day, the conversation turned to movies, and we started talking about the popular blockbuster hit, John Wick. As a freelancer, I often hear from others about their desire to achieve 6 or 7-figure income, or become the best in their respective fields of social media management, copywriting, or funnel building. However, there are a few things we can learn from John Wick that can apply to our personal and business lives. Let’s dive into them.

John Wick is a highly skilled assassin, but interestingly, people don’t talk about his skills as the best marksman or hand-to-hand martial arts expert. Instead, he’s known for his character traits of focus, commitment, and sheer will. As a businessman or entrepreneur, wouldn’t you want someone like that on your team?

Here are a few other things we can learn from the movie and apply to our personal and professional lives:

  • Character: There’s a saying that your reputation precedes you, and that holds true for John Wick. Even the big bosses in the movie are scared of him because they know what he’s all about — he won’t leave any stone unturned. It’s a great reminder to prioritize building a strong character that reflects our values.
  • Network: They say that your network is your net worth, and this also applies in the movie. John made a lot of connections through relationships with other assassins, and he was able to get help from them when needed. Building a healthy network is crucial in both good and bad times, so it’s important not to neglect this aspect of our personal and professional lives.
  • Results-oriented: Just like John, we need to deliver on our promises and have a results-oriented mindset. To achieve this, we need to be committed to continuous learning and development, as well as practice our skills to improve them.

Overall, the John Wick franchise is a great example of good storytelling and character development. By paying attention to the lessons we can learn from the movie, we can apply them to our personal and professional lives to become better versions of ourselves.
