A World in Turmoil
In recent news, we’ve all been following the challenging events in Israel. Acts of terror have shaken the region, claiming innocent lives and leaving families in turmoil. Regardless of our backgrounds, beliefs, or political affiliations, acts of violence and terrorism should have no place in our society. I pray for a swift and peaceful resolution, with justice for all and safety for the innocent.
Honoring Our Mentors
Last Thursday was Teacher’s Day. It was a day for honoring our second parents and those who molded us in the classrooms. Unfortunately, it was also the day that one of my favorite teachers passed away.
She was my homeroom adviser during my freshman year in high school, and I also remembered her because she had the same name as my mother, and her full name was the same as one of the popular actresses in the 70s.
Algebra lessons were always fun because of how she taught them. More than equations, she taught us confidence and the feeling of importance. I’ll always remember how she called us “sexy” or “pogi” (handsome), which brought laughter to our classroom.
Years later, it’s heartwarming to see tributes from her other students, reminiscing about the playful nicknames she used for us. People remember how you make them feel, and I’ll never forget the confidence she instilled in us. My thoughts and condolences go out to her family.
The Heart of a Champion
Basketball holds a special place in our hearts, and it’s a sport that unites communities across the Philippines. Last Saturday was a historic day as our national team defeated Jordan, securing the gold medal in the Asian Games.
This achievement reflects the indomitable Filipino spirit and the power of teamwork. Just like in life and business, assembling the right team with the right coach can make all the difference. As you navigate your path, remember the importance of having the right teammates and mentors to help you reach your goals.
